Mastercard and Visa Stop Processing Payments on PornHub Due to Allegations of Illegal Activity

As Reuters investigates, Mastercard Inc and Visa Inc, two of the world’s biggest financial service corporations, have cut off their processing on PornHub on Thursday. This radical move was done after there have been reports of illegal content being posted on the given adult site.

Namely, these allegations are in direct connection with human trafficking and illegal sex with children. There have been, as the sources imply, illegal videos posted on the PornHub website that show sexual scenes with minors, unconscious women, and girls, as well as rape and child abuse.

This investigation has been conducted this week and it has proven to be true. Mastercard and Visa have cut their customers from paying on Pornhub after there has been proof of the illegal movies posted on that site. This decision directly involves the PornHub Premium porn site since it is under the wings of MindGeek corporation as well.

Yearly, there are over 7 million movies posted on PornHub and the vast majority of them are willingly done. However, some videos show sex without mutual consent and this is why the investigation about MindGeek, the parent site of PornHub, took place.

Following these accusations, PornHub officials have expressed their disappointment with the decision of the two biggest credit card companies in the world. Furthermore, the representatives of PornHub said that they have been working hard on implementing the safeguard policies and allowing only trustable accounts to upload movies. As PornHub noted, “This news is crushing for the hundreds of thousands of models who rely on our platform for their livelihoods”.

Cryptocurrency Payments Are Still Available On PornHub

Even though these groundbreaking decisions have made millions of people unable to pay for their membership on PornHub, cryptocurrencies are still available. As we have noted before, PornHub supported crypto payments by using Bitcoin and Litecoin earlier this year so these payment options are still available to their users.

This website has more than 5 billion visits every year and we shall see how these radical moves from big companies will influence its future. The investigation is not over and PornHub is not the only one being investigated but all sites under the MindGeek corporation.
